Day 8

In your own space, post self-recs for at least three fanworks that you created.

Might as well continue with the challenge. Day 9 is An Act of Kindness, but I think I'll get there once I've been to the fannish wish list stuff. This is totally not so I can get to my secretly favourite challenge faster. (After all, I could have done it when I saw it two days ago, but as I said, I didn't think I'd be doing the challenge this year.

As always, I'll be limiting myself to fic from last year, since you're all probably sick of hearing me self-rec my Gintama fic The Chrysanthemum Vow every year. (At this point idek if it's even a good read anymore, I just have fond, nostalgic feelings.) I'm also limiting myself to finished fic, over 1k, and from Harley's POV. Otherwise my pool is too vast.

Self-recs ahoy! )

Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I chose to go with works I created in 2016 that I feel no one saw.

1. she truly believes the lies (Batman: Arkham Knight - Christina Bell/Harleen Quinzel, T; 2,450 words)
Ordinary People AU. Nearly a year after their breakup, Harley is forced to contact her ex Christina with a special request: to pretend to be her girlfriend once more.

Reason: I generally feel like I'm no good with details, especially of the family background variety. In this, however, I managed to create a family context and had fun doing so. Since this is an AU, you don't need to know Arkham Knight specifically. You can just imagine Christina as a female Joker.

2. digging out stumps of old resentments (Injustice: Gods Among Us - Kate Kane/Harleen Quinzel, G; 250 words)
Noir AU, Prohibition. A rather unusual woman seeks out Kate for her investigative skills.

Reason: I have a fondness for the image of Harley as femme fatale in this.

3. Hidden here below the fracture (The Raven Cycle - Joseph Kavinsky/Ronan Lynch, Joseph Kavinsky/Prokopenko, M; 3278 words)
Artist AU. The one in which K tries to banish Lynch from his head. Through art. And fails.

Reason: Here I feel no one read this because (it's tagged Rovinsky... but Ronan doesn't even show up and it's one-sided attraction!) my summary sounds too cracky, which this thing is really, really not. It's a bit more moody and frustrated, because K has an art block. I'm just really fond of creative geniuses going ballistics because the one thing they feel defines them is not working for them anymore, and them not acknowledging the real reason they're frustrated.

Day 03

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Admittedly, this challenge is the hardest and the one I like doing the least. It's wonderful to read about other creators' cherished works, because that love is catching. It's what fandom is -- or should be at least -- all about. Sharing what we love. So for me, my works are more about sharing the love of a character, a pairing, a kink or whatever. So boiling it down to specific works is rather hard.

So, I mentioned The Chrysanthemum Vow the previous years; I think that one's getting old. So here's three of my least-viewed things I wrote in 2015 that I actually like. They're all very niche, so that explains the lack of exposure.

1. I'd cut your name in my heart (Thrillkiller: Hayley Fitzpatrick/Bianca Steeplechase; T)
Summary: Had not Bianca's sinful smile on the tabloids caught her eye, Hayley would never have imagined herself slipping into Gotham's criminal underbelly.
This is DC Elseworlds' Harley/fem!Joker which I just had to write.

2. It's bigger than the sum of us (DC Animated Universe: Harleen Quinzel/Wally West; M)
Summary: Dating her is really super, if only he could shake the niggling doubts about her motives.
Hi, I have a problem and it's Harley Quinn prompts. I wanna fill them all. And through the writing of this, poof, I gained another OTP.

3. contagion (a landscape of twilight and thorns) (Flashpoint (Comics)/Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox: Joker/Yo-Yo; T)
Summary: It's blood that leads her to the Joker, and madness that binds.
Yes, I have a thing for female Jokers 8D
