I know, she's a magnificent writer, right? Though it would take me a minute to answer that question: The Handmaid's Tale. It just stole me away. *_*

Oh yes, she is! *__* And haha, that would have been my answer as well, but psst! It was the first book I've read of hers, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

Someone (apgeeksout) even wrote me a beautiful fanfic to Oryx and Crake through an exchange :D

I remember that I was reading a library book and once I finished it I was so totally impressed I had to purchase a copy of my own. - Boy, I wish I had had the chance to read it in my teenage years, it would have simply blown me away! Also, I was reading that with the author being Canadian and all the reading of The Handmaid's Tale is compulsory in a lot of the Canadian territories and as a results some Canadians young folks don't care for it much now - that's an argument against compulsory reading if I ever read one, why force someone to read a book this deep and, well, a bit dark too if they don't want to? The only thing you'll obtain is to make those same people avoid it at later date when they would have been in a position to envoy it - LOL, never mind me, I was this strange super feminist teen girl (and super into sci-fi, I remember being thirteen and discovering Asimov LOL) and it would have been my catnip. ;)

Anyway, now I feel a bit like a cheat, if you prefer I can give you another question and I promise I won't inquire about the answer and wait patiently until the established date to hear the answer. ;)

I agree with you there. I used to have this "anti" phase in which I rejected every compulsory reading out of principle, and didn't even bother to read the books until the end (although sometimes I went back and did that anyway if I was curious enough.) There was only one book I liked enough to pick up again later.

But the main thing is that you found it! :D

Oh thanks for the recs! In case you haven't found it yet, it's Well-Adapted to Harsh Conditions. Very talented writer! I made a podfic out of it, too! *shameless self-promotion*

That is SO good to know! :D Maybe that'll get me off my ass to create more, knowing that there will be an audience! (That is, if you can stand my voice/reading style, which is totally okay if you don't ;)) I've just started this year, but didn't manage to create a podfic a month as I wanted to, because, you know, life. And right now, I'm struggling with Motivation. Very Hard. And right now, I'm tryin to find a short Ghibli or MCU or DC Comics (Robin-centric) ficlet, because I promised it to someone as a reward for posting something to 31_days. But not finding anything I like is putting me right off it. Poo. xD

Oh, you can totally go several times, that's no problem. I'll put you down on the first then. ;)

OMG, you totally should! Also, I can lend you my graphic ability to create pretty (well, to the best of my abilities anyhow) podcovers if you're interested, I looove making podcovers. :)
Oh, what kind of ficlet did you have in mind? I read looots and looots of stuff, maybe I can help you out with that! Yay, let's try to kick this Motivation business in the butt. ;)

REALLY? OMG That would be so awesome! I'm not very good with graphics. The only podcover I really liked was that for Dégustation (an E-rated Hannibal/Mycroft story). If you're interested, I could use a podcover for Chaff that the Wind Blows Away, a G-rated story about John and his relationship with this family and God. :D I've been holding off offering it for download, because I haven't yet managed to create a cover and auphonic gives you only 2h a month...

AND I'm still planning to create a podfic for a Sherlock/Greek Mythology behemoth that still needs a cover ;)

As for the ficlet, something G to T-rated perhaps, under 800 words (because my giftee wrote 790 xD). I checked out Totoro, Spirited Away, Mononoke-hime and Whisper of the Heart already. But, since I still have to write a Tony-centric drabble for someone, why not podfic him too? My giftee likes slice-of-lifey things. I'm sure there must be lots of that in the MCU fandom :)

It's Till We Have Cases. Delightfully funny and with such an abundance of detail! And I'd love it if you'd want to create a podcover! The author has created a nice bookcover, but of course that doesn't have the right dimensions.
