Day 03

In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

1. Get my degree. If I had one goal, this would be it. At this point, I just want to get this behind me so I can write more fic without feeling guilty about it.

2. Write 100k. Very ambitious, considering I posted just over 50k last year. And considering I want to write my thesis this year. Ahaha.

3. Post at least one 1k+ fic every month. Also ambitious. I almost managed, but September wasn't with me.

4. Work toward getting The Raven Cycle, D.Gray-man, and Gintama into my Top 5 fandoms on AO3.

5. Work on my mental health. Be kind to myself even if I don't feel like it.

6. Start a bullet journal and try to keep it up.

7. Read at least 24 books.

8. Leave more comments. This can always be improved. There is no upper limit.

XD You should draw. Starting antidepressants was the big turning point for me picking up a pen (or a tablet pen anyway!) again; I'd sort of just quit for years, now I'm actually kind of proud of some of the stuff I'm doing. I'd love to see what you put down, if that's any incentive!

I could have easily made it into college, but my parents weren't exactly responsible people, so no money for it, and so I went to work right out of school instead. I've learned a lot on my own, though. And I can change my own sink out, plaster a wall, a bunch of jack-of-all-trades stuff I've picked up over the years. Still, I don't want my offspring to struggle like I had to.

What kind of job are you hoping for once you graduate?

My oldest is constantly drawing and will doubtless leave me in the dust. XD However, I am better at writing as yet.

Natalie is 11 (and exploring genderqueerness so wants to go by they/them), David is 9. If I were going to recommend any kind of a job, I'd recommend working in a library. I was a library custodian for four years and it was the best job I ever had. Not high paying or anything, but holidays off and as many books as I could want at my fingertips, and on light nights, I'd definitely write fic. >.> Or RP.

I'm trying, anyway! I slip a lot, and I have a hard time wrapping my mind around it, but I think that's just a function of being almost thirty-seven and only now learning about these things. I grew up in BFE with moderate-to-conservative parents, it took me all the way til I was 21 to even figure out I wasn't straight (or that anything existed that wasn't straight!)

An archive sounds nice, too. Bookstore, maybe, especially if it's an independent one.
